My name is Frank Somerville. I’m the evening anchor at KTVU in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are the number one station in the market. I don’t write recommendation letters unless I really believe in the person. And I really believe in Katie Lewellyn. I worked with her for several months when she was an intern at KTVU.
In my mind you can tell a lot about someone when they are doing a job where they don’t get paid. Katie showed up on time. She didn’t complain. She asked good questions. She wanted to learn. She had a great attitude. And she was very mature. But most of all she was competent. I knew that if I asked her to do something, and she said she would do it, that it would get done. There would not be excuses. I could count on her. And that's one of the biggest compliments I can give someone. And one last point. She takes great pictures.
During the World Series we went live from AT&T park. Part of her job was the capture the moment with her camera. And her pictures were excellent. She has a very good eye that is only going to get better with experience.

I always love working with Katie Lewellyn. She and I recently collaborated to take some bridal photos at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco. She arrived to location on time and was ready to go with a smile. She has this infectious energy about her that just makes me smile.
My bride for the shoot that day was having a slightly tough time, she was really congested and needed to blow her nose constantly, poor thing. Katie was patient and keep the energy light and keep my bride feeling comfortable and beautiful. She was open to my suggestions if I saw a location that I thought would make a beautiful photo she would stop and take those photos. She gave me an even balance between closeup beauty shots and distance couple shots.
One of my favorite things is that she not only captured the dreamy romantic moments but she also caught my couple being silly and themselves. I love those images because they really showcase their personality. Katie did everything she could to get the perfect shot, even balancing on a tiny stepping stone in a pond to get the image just right. She is one of my favorite photographers to work with. I did my graduation photos with Katie. I've known her since high school, and we even went to college together. She's got so much talent as a photographer.
During this shoot, she was so accommodating and, oh my gosh, we sure did go the extra mile to make sure I got all the perfect lighting all on me! Making me feel like a goddess. I truly felt so beautiful and she helped me with that. I had so much fun (which I hope you can see in my photos). We went to two different locations in San Francisco and she made it all work with all the elements .... no like literally incorporated nature in my shoot which added a great organic touch.
